Formula description

How is each result calculated?

The calculator uses the following standard formulas. Please always confirm product specifications and current quotes in the trading platform before actually placing an order.

Point value

Point value = (1 pip ÷ current exchange rate) × contract size × lot size

For varieties whose quote currency is the account currency (such as XXX/USD, the account is USD), the pip value = 1 pip × contract size × lot size, no conversion required.

Required margin

Margin = (Contract size × Lot size × Opening price) ÷ Leverage

Margin is the funds required to open a position. The higher the leverage, the less occupancy, but the greater the risk.

Profit and loss

Profit and loss = (Close price − Open price) × direction × contract size × lot size

The long direction is +1 and the short direction is −1. Results are in quote currency and converted to account currency if necessary.

Position size

Lot size = Risk amount ÷ (stop loss points × value per lot)

First determine the risk amount and stop loss distance that can be tolerated in a single transaction, and then derive the maximum lot size that does not exceed the risk.
